Thomas Sankara: Africa’s Forgotten Revolutionary
Thomas Sankara (1949–1987) was a revolutionary leader, Pan-Africanist thinker, and President of Burkina Faso from 1983 to 1987. Known as “Africa’s Che Guevara,” he launched bold social and economic reforms focused on self-sufficiency, women’s rights, and anti-imperialism. His brief presidency inspired millions across the continent but ended abruptly when he was assassinated at just 37. Today, Sankara remains a powerful symbol of resistance, justice, and visionary leadership in post-colonial Africa.
